As an avid diver, I am always on the lookout for new technology to ensure not only my safety, but that I always have the best tools available on the market. Nothing can heighten the diving experience quite like the ultimate diving computer and my experience with the Suunto Vyper Air Dive Computer is worthy of note. I had read several dive computer reviews in the past, as I don’t have an endless budget to waste on equipment, and eventually decided that this particular unit seemed to be the right fit – an incredible choice on my part.
I was with my normal diving trio of my brother and his girlfriend when we decided to explore a bit just offshore in Pensacola, Florida. We had the idea of trading tools when we surfaced, giving everyone a chance with a different wrist dive computer. With our tanks in onboard, we ventured out, dropped anchor, and were submerged before we knew it.
Right from the start, I loved the sleek look of the Suunto Vyper. The numbers were easy to see and the layout of the visual interface made it simple to quickly check my depth and dive time. The water is always warm in the Gulf of Mexico, so the temperature gauge didn’t fluctuate much – it wasn’t until a few months later when diving off the coast of California that I truly began to appreciate the temperature sensitivity that this particular unit brought to the table.
Now, back to our Pensacola dive…
We surfaced after a tank and I was elated at my purchase. After all, the research had paid off and I had exactly what I was after. Reluctantly, I traded my Suunto for my brother’s girlfriend’s scuba diving watch, and again, we were submerged. It was like I had crossed the point of no return. I’m not sure if the Suunto had spoiled me in a single dive or what, but ultimately, I didn’t want to dive without it again.
To make a long story short, my brother never got a chance to dive with it, as his girlfriend refused to give it up. The algorithm technology within the Suunto Viper Air Dive Computer provided continuous decompression feedback, so I no longer had to go by “feel”. Trust me, when you finally have the equipment to enjoy a dive properly, you wouldn’t want to go back!
I know I won’t.
As a diving enthusiast, dive computers have become an intricate part in this hobby of mine. After trying out various brands of these fantastic gadgets, I finally found the perfect wrist dive computer for me.
This site will hopefully be a great help to all you divers (and diving enthusiasts) out there who have yet to find the dive computer that is just right for you.
Enjoy!
